The 2024 pension increase for the Police, Firefighters’ and Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) will be 6.7 per cent.   

The pension increase is in line with inflation at the end of September 2023. 

This will be applied in full to those members who have been receiving their pension for the whole of the 2023-2024 tax year (April 2023 to March 2024). If you retired after the start of this period, a pro rata increase will be applied.  

If you’re still paying into your pension scheme, the 2024 CARE revaluation rates will be: 

  • 6.7% for LGPS members from 8 April 
  • 7.7% for Firefighter members from 8 April 
  • 7.95% for Police members from 1 April 

These rates apply if you are currently in a CARE pension scheme. If you retired since 1 April 2023, these rates will apply to the time you were actively paying into the scheme.
