The sun is out, temperatures are up, and spring appears to have finally sprung. So, what better time to give your pension a spring clean?

It’s always wise to make sure your pension details are up to date during the year – from ensuring you’ve nominated the right beneficiaries, to checking your contact details are correct.

Are you getting the right advice?

If you’re thinking of making any changes to your pension, it’s important to get financial advice from a qualified financial expert.

The latest research from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries shows that 40 per cent of people don’t take any financial advice when it comes to understanding and accessing their pension savings (based on a survey of more than 2000 people aged over 55).

While we can’t offer financial advice at LPPA, there are plenty of organisations that can – such as MoneyHelper, which is backed by the government and from the Money and Pensions Service.

Alternatively, if you’re thinking of getting advice from an independent financial advisor (IFA), you could try contacting the Financial Advisor Bureau or websites like unbiased.co.uk, to find a suitable IFA that’s registered by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
